Okay, I'm going to post the Hostles that I look at as comments of this post. I don't think I quite fully understand this thing yet...
So the cheapest thing I have found so far (but I haven't been looking very long...) would be $492.06 for 6 beds in a Cabin for 4 nights. I know that's a crapload of money... but it would work out to about $20.50 per person, per night. That's pretty good, I think. And that's in dollars.. not euros. We wouldn only have to put a $40.00 deposit down and we would be good to go.
It's close to the subway and there's a bus stop right in front of it. They supply pillows, but not blankets, they have a shared kitchen, I guess they have water somewhere... because it says "swimming and canoeing" and I guess it's in a wildernessy spot. Anyway, I'll let you know what else I find.

Oh god, Lauren... I hate to say you were right.... but you were right. I've been trying to find availability in all the hostles I'm looking at, and a LOT of them are booked up. We could MAYBE get beds in different dorms and stuff, but a bunch that I've tried to "book" with have said that they don't have availability for every night. Should I be looking at staying at different hostles every night? That sounds like a huge pain in the ass!!
Okay, so this one would cost $846.00 in dollars and we would all be in separate rooms. I dunno...

i have also been looking at hostel prices/availabity etc... lauren is right, the hostels are booking up pretty fast... but all is not lost! i found this website (hostelworld.com) with many many hostels in amsterdam... the most reasonable i have found is 147 for 4 nights a person, roughly 40 a night, to 205 a person at around 50 a night... i have also discovered that the weekends are much more expensive than the weekdays ( but we all knew that might be the case) and this makes me think that the overnight train ride would be the best, as we can book the overnight trip for saturday and scratch an expensive night at the hostel, which should make up the differences in ticket prices.... let me know what y'all think... love you all much!

truthfully? i am down for the CHEAPEST possible thing we can find... and the cabin sounds fine with me... and how many of us will be needing a place to crash in amsterdam? i keep up the search as much as possible today!
